The Eames Lounge Chair

The Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman is probably the most significant and recognizable piece of furniture of the 20^th century. It has pride of place in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as being the subject of many documentaries, books and an object of dreams for many. Incredibly comfortable, elegant and stylish, it combines everything that a Lounge chair should have.

This is the king of all lounge chairs.

It was designed in 1956 by Charles and Ray Eames as a birthday present for their friend, Hollywood film director Billy Wilder. The Lounge chair and ottoman were introduced to the public on Arlene Francis’ Home show, which later became the Today show. Charles and Ray showed the Eames Lounge Chair in the, now classic, black leather and rosewood finish. And the rest, as they say, was history.

What started in 1881 as a glass factory in Iittala, Finland, now celebrates generations of essential objects that are made to enrich people’s everyday lives. We believe objects should be distinctive, combinable and multi-functional, with lasting design that allows for individual use and expression.

Come and witness the birth of an Egg™ Chair

On the 1st March 2012, you will not only be able to get close to the Egg^™, one of the world’s most famous and classic pieces of furniture, you will also get a rare and exclusive insight into the making of this master-piece, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958.

Hans Mannerhagen, the Master upholsterer for Fritz Hansen, who sews the Egg by hand using 1200 stitches per Egg chair, will be coming to Lost Weekend to take us into the world of supreme craftsmanship.

This is also a unique opportunity to learn more about the different types of leather Fritz Hansen uses, and to, if you wish, hand-pick a beautiful Sorensen leather hide to be sewn onto your own Egg^™, making this the ultimate Egg^™experience at Lost Weekend.

A Wonderful Event…

We had SUCH a wonderful evening with Peter Linden last Wednesday, we just have to show you some of the pictures. A huge thank you must go to Peter for showcasing such a beautiful collection of antique and Dobag rugs, and for sharing their fascinating stories with us. Christmas Event – Walking in a Winter Woodenland 3rd December

On Saturday 3rd December, Lost Weekend Store will be getting into the Christmas spirit with a Winter Woodenland event for adults and children.

The store will be transformed into Santa’s workshop for the day with families invited to enjoy Christmas decoration making, along with traditional mulled wine for the grown ups, soft drinks for children and some delicious delicacies.

Lost Weekend is also full of festive delights that will give adults the perfect opportunity to get ahead with their shopping! See you all there!

Here at Lost Weekend we are delighted to be hosting a beautiful collection of rare DOBAG rugs from Ireland’s leading specialist in fine antique carpets, rugs, Kilims and tapestries. The full collection will be in store from the 1st to the 4th of Decemeber, extending our opening to include Sunday on this week.

These now rare DOBAG rugs have gained worldwide recognition for their beautiful natural colours exceptional wool quality, unique individuality and outstanding durability. Peter will also be exhibiting some beautiful rare antique pieces from the collection include a Sewan Kasak from 1879, in addition to many other pieces. This event offers a rare opportunity to view and acquire something very special.
